A Bear Hugs Treat Box

Today I have a sweet project for your treats – a super cute Bear Hugs Treat Box featuring the Essentials by Ellen Bear Hugs designer dies.

Isn’t this SO CUTE? Oh my gosh I love him! Holding a flower makes him perfect for Mothers Day!

First, I cut felt and card stock to make the front and the back of the bear. The felt and card stock is simply hand sewn together using DMC floss and the mouth is 3 small stitches.

Next, you can see I sandwiched a box in between the 2 bear panels. (specs below) This Bear Hugs Treat Box holds Reeses eggs (or hearts) and similar sized candy. Although creating these boxes in felt is my favorite, I wanted something a little easier. Check out his friend, Dark Brown Bear.

Dark Brown bear on the left is just plain cardstock stitched with DMC and has a box of the same size sandwiched in the middle. Google eyes and an oval die cut complete his face. The present/gift is part of the die set and I added a pumpkin patch bow with a glue dot. Dark Brown bear is definately a little bit faster to make than the felt bear.

While the front is the main focus of these treat boxes, do not forget to decorate the back. The heart die on his butt is just a tiny die I had in my stash. One heart is, of course, felt to match and the other is card stock.

Do you have a Grad or know a Grad? As shown, the Spellbinders Hats off die is the perfect fit to make a grad gift!! In addition to candy, the Bear Hugs treat box can hold some cash! He is perfect for gift giving.

Specs:

Card stock: 5-1/2 x 3-1/2. Score at 3/4, 2-1/2, 3-1/4, and 5. turn and score at 3/4 down the long side. snip the short score lines and cut the end section as shown. Fold to assemble the box.
