To My Beastie

Not going to Lie– these Yeti beasts are so much fun!  I thought it would be fun to share a how I made the background and showcase that fun new Four Seasons tree die!

But 1st a GOOD SALE– 5 days of deals at Spellbinders FSJ:  Click the images to shop.

Now on to the card.  Here is the finished card with the tree and the adorable Yeti.

BB Beast Friends, Stamp with Jill, MFT

I started the background with some ink blending and regular Distress inks on whip cream card stock. (not distress oxides)  I just bought a bunch of these little ink cubes and wanted to play more with them.   FYI You can also use FSJ Fusion ink for blending.  They are pretty similar for blending.

distress ink, Stamp with Jill, ink blending

As you can see from the picture above the color is REALLY VIBRANT.  Too much for the design I had in mind.  You can also see its really bright next to the sample.  (and also upside down!)

BB Beast Friends, Stamp with Jill, MFT

Instead of making a whole new background with different ink colors I decided to tone it down.  White Pan pastels to the rescue with a thin layer over top.  A perfect way to mute the color just a bit!

I used this background on this card HERE with the tree.  LOVE the purples and the blues together for winter.

The Four Seasons Tree

Check out my latest find at Spellbinders!  The Four Seasons Tree die.  I have been looking for a tree like this for quite some time.  I am also sharing this week’s sketch from Freshly Made Sketches. This is a sketch challenge blog that I just found where the design team creates a sketch for you to try, the twist is to keep your project clean-lined and fresh!  Ummm, thats right up my alley!  SO LET PLAY!

Stamp with Jill, The Four Season tree, Spellbinders

Decided to make my 1st card with the The Four Seasons Tree die winter themed and follow the Freshly made sketch.  Totally appropriate as it is freezing cold here in PA.   This is the skecth:

First, I created the background with Wilted violet, Salty Ocean and Blueprint sketch Distress inks.  They are blended together with a dauber on whip cream card stock.  The colors were really bright so I toned it down with some white pan pastel.  The pierced frame is die cut from the Journey rectangles set and the snow is made with White Nuvo drops.

Stamp with Jill, The Four Season tree, Spellbinders

Can you see the Bright days embossing folder with the burst pattern?  It is very subtble and can be seen in the 1st picture.  Finally, I added this great sentiment from the Charming tag Sentiments set. LOVE the simple font on this!! I layered these all on white to keep it super clean.

Check out the Freshly Made Sketch blog HERE.  There are so many fun and creative ideas for this sketch.

Deck the Howls with Thomas

Happy Weekend! Stamping friends. I love puppies!  One of my favorite puppy stamp sets this season is the MFT stamp set called Deck the Howls.  Stinkin’ Cute!  Don’t you think this puppy looks EXACTLY like Thomas?  I do!  He is my favorite from the set!

Stamp with Jill MFT deck the Howls christmas card

Let’s take a look at Thomas really quick!  Both are so cute and there is definitely a little resemblance.  Short ears, short front legs…  Love it!

This was a shot of him helping me put cabinets together for my stamp room make over.

Now onto another card.  This one is clean and simple.  The focus is on the gold bells (fashion gold) on his collar giving the puppy all the attention.  After all that’s what they like.

Hot diggity dog this dachshund is totally adorable too.  Did you notice that I’m totally loving the “Deer Santa” 6×6 paper pack from the Spellbinders card November card kit?  And all 3 of these cards use some of the extra components from the card kit,  like the gold paper and the party burst dots.  I only have about 5 sheets left of the Deer Santa fun 6×6 pad.  You are going to see it on a lot of cards this week.

A Valentine Cup of Cheer

Decided to take a break from Christmas and create one last card for the for the 2018 Fall | Winter Coffee Lovers Blog Hop.  Next Up: Valentine’s Day.  todays card is a coffee valentine card.

coffee valentine card, Stamp with Jill

Cased this beauty from a card by Jen del Muro that I saw on pinterest.   The heart paper this from “Through the Years” designer prints paper pack.  So glad that there is a little of each holiday in that pack because I have ZERO valentine paper anywhere else.   Hopefully the recipient of this card will not look too close at the news print paper.  It is from the Deer Santa pad and if you blow it up it has a few Christmas words.  Luckily the type is SUPER small and I doubt anyone will notice.

#720 for today!  WOWZERS that is a lot of coffee creations.  I really hope I get lucky and get picked for a prize!

Making these few coffee card was fun!! I especially like this coffee valentine card.    Here is entry #1 and entry # 2 for the 2018 Fall | Winter Coffee Lovers Blog Hop .

It’s Red Cup Season

I have inspiration galore from all the fun coffee cards posted on the 2018 Fall | Winter Coffee Lovers Blog Hop.  And it is red cup season and I am on my way out to run errands and treat myself to a cup of coffee. YUM!

In honor of Red Cup season and to replicate the Starbucks red cup, I created this adorable coffee card.  I love it!  The snow is made with the Nuvo drops and I added a little ink blending to the edges of the cup for dimension, but it is not really showing up in the pictures.

Additionally,  I am thinking may need to turn it into a gift card holder by adding a pocket inside.  Maybe….  So what is the 2018 Fall | Winter Coffee Lovers Blog Hop?   Check it out here.

Here is yesterdays entry in the hop!

My Stamp Room Makeover

Ahhhh… finally sharing my stamp room makeover.  Last fall, when I joined FSJ as a coach, I completely overhauled my stamp room.  It was time, after 11 years as a SU Demo, to do a full clean out and streamline my craft room.  Now with the Spellbinders-FSJ merger completed, over Thanksgiving I did it again!

Here is a shot of my final space.  Read on for the full transformation.

Stamp With Jill, stamp room makeover 2018

BEFORE THE MAKEOVER

Below was my HOT MESS of a stamp room (in my basement) just about 18 months ago.  The picture may be a bit older but this is what it looked like….all. of. the. time.   Piles of stuff everywhere and multiple projects all over the place.   How the heck did I create anything in this mess?

Stamp With Jill, stamp room makeover 2018

The desk and cabinets below were a hand me down from my parents flooded kitchen 10 years ago. They were the few that survived.  The countertop was from Lowes and the table was plastic!  So much stuff!

Stamp With Jill, stamp room makeover 2018

Makeover last fall

I already had these Ikea Expedit bookcases against the right side wall that you could not see in the first pictures.  I cleaned them out and moved them to the left wall.  Then I trashed the counter top, old kitchen cabinets and desk from that area that just were not functional.  Already a huge improvement!

Stamp With Jill, stamp room makeover 2018

I kept the plastic table as my “desk” and added a 2nd one where I shoot videos and FB lives.  Got new chairs and as you can see the back wall is pretty much empty.  The stool at the end of the table holds the trash can up high so the dogs don’t get into it.  My white standard poodle Lexy was naughty in my stamp room and she loved to eat card stock!!

I popped up a 3rd plastic table (on the left of the picture) about a week before Thanksgiving. I was struggling with table top and storage.  This was the sign that I needed better organization!!!

Stamp With Jill, stamp room makeover 2018

I got rid of 2 stamp cabinets (see the hot mess picture) and put my power paper cutters away.  Slid this table (from Ikea) down to be my die cutting and and paper cutting table.  I also got a new ink pad organizer for the wall since I no longer had SU ink pads.  I kept just a few organization items like the buckets (from Ikea) and the plastic roll carts (from Lowes).

Stamp With Jill, stamp room makeover 2018

Even with the extra table up, it was so much cleaner and more organized!

Stamp With Jill, stamp room makeover 2018

Wondering where all the stuff went?  I sold almost all of my SU stuff.  Selling for a new company I did not need it anymore!  Bye to the stamps, dies, punches paper.  Pretty much all of it.   I also trashed lots and lots of things that I had not touched in 8-9 years. (scary I know).  Can you believe I still have more to get rid of?

AND HERE IS MY ROOM NOW!

Here is my finished, almost completed stamp room makeover.  Just waiting on a few organizational items to come for the drawers and 2 bins for stamps for the bookcase.  I am having glass cut for the top of my main work desk as I will never, ever keep a white table clean.

Stamp With Jill, stamp room makeover 2018

These desks/tables above are from Ikea called Skarsta.  They move up and down with a hand crank under the desk so I can sit in a chair, sit on a stool or stand!  OMG love love love this feature.  Sometimes I get so stiff from sitting all the time.  Having a stand option, without leaning over, is PERFECT! Plus no more tripping over my chair to get up and get things!

I cleaned out a little more of the bookcase below and added 4 drawers to the right hand side.  They hold ink refills and random items that I don’t use all the time.

Stamp With Jill, stamp room makeover 2018

The most functional items I added were these 2 drawer carts pictured below.  They are the wide Alex drawers from Ikea.  These hold all the stuff (and more!!) that was in the 3 plastic red carts with drawers to spare!!! yes I have empty drawers!   A big bonus is that they are sturdy, fit right under the existing table and are white to match everything else.

Stamp With Jill, stamp room makeover 2018

My stamp room will always be evolving, but I just love the way it turned out.  No more plastic!!! I can easily add more storage to the bookcase and in the room if I need to.    Plenty of room for my puppies too!

Now back to creating pretty cards and projects!

A Tulle Shaker Card

Hi Friends. Today we are shaking it up with sequins and tulle. This is a fun shaker card inspired by Jennifer McGuire ink and an onlinecardclass I took with her.

tulle shaker card, stamp with jill, spellbinders large die of the month

This tulle shaker card is made with oatmeal cookie card stock (Kraft) and mirror gold!  SOOOOOO PRETTY!   You can actually see through the whole front panel – all the gold sequins are enclosed within the tulle pocket.  So fun and not too hard.  I had no idea you could do this.  I love learning new tricks!

Time for the video tutorial.  I love, love, love the Large die of the month (November) from Spellbinders and thought it was ABSOLUTELY PERFECT for this card.

Additionally, I sneak in the Spellbinders small die of the month too. (wink wink)

Basically the usual shaker card sandwiches sequins, beads, glitter or other small items between two layers of acetate with foam tape.   Instead we are going to use Tulle.  After all, it is cheap and can be found in most craft stores.  But I also have a link below.

tulle shaker card, stamp with jill, spellbinders large die of the month

Without doubt I’ll definitely use this tulle shaker card technique again. Thank you, Jennifer McGuire, for your crafting inspiration!
