4 Reasons the Spellbinders Small Die of the month club ROCKs

I am now a BIG FAN of the Spellbinders Small Die of the Month and Large Die of the Month Club Kits. – in fact so far all of the Spellbinder’s monthly kits!   If you’re looking to invest in an awesome monthly die club, this is it! I love having fun dies show up in my mailbox each month. And this month’s dies… Christmas! And this month extends way past Christmas with stuff you probably already have in your stash!

I am so excited to share with you what I made using the Spellbinders Small Die of the month. Here is my 1st creation:

spellbinders die of the month dec 2018, stampwithjill christmas card

I added the Holly from the Snapshot frames die and the berries are Nuvo drops.

The second card was created using a combination of the Small die and the designer printed paper and the Party Burst dots from the card kit:

The Sentiment is from Concord and 9th Very Merry Sentiments and the rectangle piercing was cut from the Journey rectangle die set.

For my 3rd card, I used some light blue Pan Pastels for the background and some sparkle silk and white Nuvo Drops.   How fun are these word dies!

Again the sentiment is from Concord and 9th and I just love that Frosty Snowflake (link below).

Finally, my 4th card.   I’ll have a 5th tomorrow as it warrants its own post!  This combines both the small die and the large die of the month.

Because more inspiration is always good, check out these cards on THIS POST to see a few more of the large die.

The words are MERRY, BRIGHT, CHRISTMAS, NEW, YEAR, HAPPY plus the ampersand and the deer and accessories!  LOVE!!!

Spotlight Stamping Technique

Hi Stamping Friends!  Today we are learning the spotlight stamping technique with some simple ink blending.   This technique is an ink blended background to draw the eye to the sentiment (or stamped image) focal point.

spotlight ink blending, stamp with Jill concord & 9th, very merry sentiments

This is so easy!  I laid down a light layer of distress ink in Mowed Lawn and then similarly applied another layer of Pine Needles distress ink color over top but closer to the edges. Finally, a few splatters of Sparkle silk created my snow.

You can see how simple this is in the video tutorial (and how I struggle with my new tweezers and new Nuvo drops).

You can blend on a teflon mat, copy or grid paper!  the mat is easy to clean and the paper can be trashed when you are done. It just depends on your preferred method of clean up.

I just LOVE the sparkle silk  It gives just the touch of sparkle with out having to get out glitter!  Check out that sparkle!

spotlight ink blending, stamp with Jill concord & 9th, very merry sentiments

I think the spotlight stamping technique really makes the sentiment POP as the focal point of the card. Need more inspiration?  Check out the red and a green cards HERE!  You can use both the Distress inks or the Spellbinders FSJ fusion ink.  Both blend great!

Finally, here are the Products I used, click the images to shop online with me.

Very Merry Sentiments from Concord & 9th

How fun is this clean and simple card?    Sometimes all you need is a sentiment to make a great card! I used the Concord & 9th Very Merry Sentiments and some easy ink blending for these cards.

Concord & 9th Stamp with Jill, Spotlight Ink blending

This post has a video tutorial for the ink blending.  It is pretty easy!  All you do is blend a lighter red and a darker red (or greens) around the edges of the card to “spotlight” the sentiment.  Then I added a splash of silk, a few fashion silver dots and some nuvo drops to create the snow effect.

Red or Green?  I can’t decide!

Spellbinder's Kit & Caboodle Club, Stamp with Jill, Large die of the month,Card kit club, Nov 2018

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this tree die. It’s included in the kit & caboodle club and you can get through Large Die of the month club.

Spellbinder's Kit & Caboodle Club, Stamp with Jill, Card kit Club, Nov 2018

The pre-printed die cut elements are great!  I altered these a little by adding Journey Glaze to the berries, poinsettia and candy cane.

Spellbinder's Kit & Caboodle Club, Stamp with Jill, Large die of the month, card kit club, Nov 2018

Washi Tape for all the glitter elements!

Spellbinder's Kit & Caboodle Club, Stamp with Jill, card kit club, Nov 2018

The note cards that come in the box are not bright white and are a little flimsy for my taste.  But they match the die cuts perfectly!  I cut them apart and used them as layers and for die cutting so they did not get wasted.  I added Stickles Glitter Glue to the icing on each piece.  There are 2 preprinted die cuts of each image so you can easily make 2 of each of these cards!

Spellbinder's Kit & Caboodle Club, Stamp with Jill, card kit club, Nov 2018

The truck and the balloons have Journey glaze for some shine.  Note these die cut are paper, not card stock, so you only need a super thin layer to prevent the paper from curling.

Spellbinder's Kit & Caboodle Club, Stamp with Jill, card kit club, Nov 2018

Candy dots (included in the kit)  and stickles for the hats on the cute animals!

Spellbinder's Kit & Caboodle Club, Stamp with Jill, card kit club, Nov 2018

I love this puppy die cut but he was a little bit to big for the front of the card so I put him on the inside.  Cute!!!

Santa Christmas Treat Boxes, Stamp with Jill. Spellbinders FSJ

This box holds treats of all kinds, small gifts and GIFT CARDS!  I always love a box that can hold a gift card.  Santa has lots of elves so we needed a coordinating Elf Treat box.

Elf Christmas Treat Boxes, Stamp with Jill. Spellbinders FSJ

Decided to flip it and get creative with an upside down Elf Christmas Treat box. Added some feet with the Christmas Magic Die set.  It coordinates with the Christmas Magic stamp set!

The Gel Press and Christmas Card Backgrounds

Time to get inky with my Gel Press and Christmas card backgrounds.  I decided to play with re-inkers and some embossing folders.  Here is what backgrounds look like:

gel press Christmas card backgrounds, Stamp with Jill

Nothing that amazing to start- pretty simple too.  Let’s start with the video tutorial that shows you how to make the backgrounds.  Grab your gel press, some holiday colored re-inkers and someday dry embossed layers!

The end results of the gel press and Christmas card backgrounds are the best part. Creating with them is fun and sometimes challenging.  I just realized I forgot to add the sentiment to this Llama card!  On the inside it goes!

Gel Press Christmas Llama card, Stamp with Jill

Another llama card with non traditional Christmas colors. Mostly because he is so cute.   See his blanket?  it is made from the coffee first dies.  The cozy is the perfect fit!

And one more with the ADORABLE Yeti from My Favorite Things stamp company.  BB Beast Friends is name of the set.

Hope you enjoyed todays tutorial!  Here are the supplies for todays cards:

Sending You Sunshine & a Scrapbook Page

Taking a break from Christmas for a clean and simple coffee card and sharing a scrapbook page.  I love this sentiment. It is perfect for all occasion cards that you have no reason to send.  Happy Mail!

Now that the card is complete I think maybe I should have used red for the Starbucks red holiday cup.  Maybe on the next one!  The Coffee First Dies give you any color cup you want!

Now for the scrap page.  I make scrapbook pages all the time and share them on my  Instagram Stories.   But… I often forget to share them here.  (oops!).

Cottage Bouquet scrapbook, Spellbinders FSJ, Stamp with Jill

We had family pictures take at the end of August right before my boys left for College.  Love this shot of my girl and Gus!  I used the Cottage Bouquet stamp set and Die for the Flowers!

The flowers are colored with various shades of pinks, yellows and blue copic markers.  I did not keep track of the copic colors I was just grabbing and coloring.

Here is a Holiday page I made last year.  and a Birthday page here.

Simply Beautiful Zenspired Holiday Card

Today’s holiday card was inspired from this card that I created previously with the Zenspired Christmas Sentiments stamp set.  I love how the branches and berries peek out from behind the sentiment.  You can view the original post here.
