A Tulle Shaker Card

Hi Friends. Today we are shaking it up with sequins and tulle. This is a fun shaker card inspired by Jennifer McGuire ink and an onlinecardclass I took with her.

tulle shaker card, stamp with jill, spellbinders large die of the month

This tulle shaker card is made with oatmeal cookie card stock (Kraft) and mirror gold!  SOOOOOO PRETTY!   You can actually see through the whole front panel – all the gold sequins are enclosed within the tulle pocket.  So fun and not too hard.  I had no idea you could do this.  I love learning new tricks!

Time for the video tutorial.  I love, love, love the Large die of the month (November) from Spellbinders and thought it was ABSOLUTELY PERFECT for this card.

Additionally, I sneak in the Spellbinders small die of the month too. (wink wink)

Basically the usual shaker card sandwiches sequins, beads, glitter or other small items between two layers of acetate with foam tape.   Instead we are going to use Tulle.  After all, it is cheap and can be found in most craft stores.  But I also have a link below.

Without doubt I’ll definitely use this tulle shaker card technique again. Thank you, Jennifer McGuire, for your crafting inspiration!

Spotlight Stamping Technique

Hi Stamping Friends!  Today we are learning the spotlight stamping technique with some simple ink blending.   This technique is an ink blended background to draw the eye to the sentiment (or stamped image) focal point.

spotlight ink blending, stamp with Jill concord & 9th, very merry sentiments

This is so easy!  I laid down a light layer of distress ink in Mowed Lawn and then similarly applied another layer of Pine Needles distress ink color over top but closer to the edges. Finally, a few splatters of Sparkle silk created my snow.

You can see how simple this is in the video tutorial (and how I struggle with my new tweezers and new Nuvo drops).

You can blend on a teflon mat, copy or grid paper!  the mat is easy to clean and the paper can be trashed when you are done. It just depends on your preferred method of clean up.

I just LOVE the sparkle silk  It gives just the touch of sparkle with out having to get out glitter!  Check out that sparkle!

I think the spotlight stamping technique really makes the sentiment POP as the focal point of the card. Need more inspiration?  Check out the red and a green cards HERE!  You can use both the Distress inks or the Spellbinders FSJ fusion ink.  Both blend great!

The Gel Press and Christmas Card Backgrounds

Time to get inky with my Gel Press and Christmas card backgrounds.  I decided to play with re-inkers and some embossing folders.  Here is what backgrounds look like:

gel press Christmas card backgrounds, Stamp with Jill

Nothing that amazing to start- pretty simple too.  Let’s start with the video tutorial that shows you how to make the backgrounds.  Grab your gel press, some holiday colored re-inkers and someday dry embossed layers!

The end results of the gel press and Christmas card backgrounds are the best part. Creating with them is fun and sometimes challenging.  I just realized I forgot to add the sentiment to this Llama card!  On the inside it goes!

Gel Press Christmas Llama card, Stamp with Jill

Another llama card with non traditional Christmas colors. Mostly because he is so cute.   See his blanket?  it is made from the coffee first dies.  The cozy is the perfect fit!

And one more with the ADORABLE Yeti from My Favorite Things stamp company.  BB Beast Friends is name of the set.

Flower Tangle Makes an easy Halloween card

Another easy Halloween card with my favorite fall pumpkin set: Martha’s Pumpkins!   Looks hard but trust me its easy!

easy Halloween card, Stamp with Jill, Fun Stampers Journey, Marthas Pumpkins

The background is the Flower Tangle background stamp.  Oh how I love this stamp.  Never thought that I could use it to make an easy Halloween card .  I used the ink blending technique to create the colors.  You can see the video tutorial on how to do the background  on THIS POST.  All I did was change the colors to fall and halloween.

Use your Pretty Papers- Part 3

I love beautiful paper and I have lots of it.  An embarrassing amount of it to be quite honest.  I am always looking for great layouts that showcase pretty paper with a simple layout that is easy to recreate with any paper you have.

Use your pretty papers Part 3, Stamp with Jill

This is so easy and the main focal point is the pretty paper.  The key here is to have a tiny sentiment so it does not over power the paper.

Use your pretty papers part 3, stamp with Jill

Here are the specs.  The designer paper is cut to 3.75 x 3.75.  the next step is to simply layer with coordinating colors.  This Fun Stampers Journey paper called The Good Life Prints is absolutely beautiful and make designer paper cards SUPER EASY!  Here are the rest of the measurements.  Whip Cream 3-3/4 x 4,  Chambray Shirt 3-3/4 x 5,  Denim Days 5-1/8 x 3-7/8, Whip Cream 4 x 5.25 and the card base is 4.25 x 11, scored at 5.5.
