HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!
I made this card for Mary Jo Albright’s sketch challenge on her blog Beauty Lies Within. You can see her sketch HERE. By participating in her sketch, I am entered to win her blog candy. What fun- but even better…check out her trick with the scallop punch. She punches the scallop twice to give the scallop points. She made a very cool medallion using this trick.
Now for My Blog Candy….
WOW. I passed 50,000 hits and then some! I am so thankful for all the nice ladies I have met through my blog from all over the country. I had no idea blogging would be so fun! So for the very 1st Time I am giving a away some blog candy!
Please leave me a comment (on this post) for what your New Year’s “stamping” resolution is going to be. I have 3 !!
- Stop hoarding all my supplies like hodgepodge hardware and items from the Pretties kit
- Use designer paper “in the moment” not after its retired
- Learn to use chipboard and the Bind it All so they are not neglected in my stamp room
So what is the candy? It is a new Stampin’ Up Creative License Simply Scrapping Kit from the Level one hostess selections from the Fall Winter catalog. The colors in this kit coordinate great with the new Spring Summer Crew Classics Collection. There are lots of fun projects over on splitcoast using this kit as well! Good Luck! (winner will be picked by random.org)
Recipe:
Stamps: Happy Heart Day
Ink: Basic black
Paper: Bali Breeze, Tempting Turquoise , Purely Pomegranate, Whisper White
Other: Eyelets, crop-a-dile, Pomegranate stitched ribbon, tag punches, water color crayons, waterbrush, Tempting Turquoise ribbon, linen thread
My resolution is to stamp/scrap more than I have been. Thanks for the candy and can't wait to see more great projects from you! Keep up the good work and thanks for all your help!!Bev
This card is simply adorable Jill. I should have got that set but decided to hold off and wait for the bundle offer. Thanks so much for participating in the challenge..you did a great job:)Happy New YearMJ Albright
My resolution would have to be to use some of my unmounted stamps. I bought them for a purpose and it definitely was not to sit on a shelf :).I enjoy your posts and your creations.
my thing is going to be to make one for me and a duplicate to give away-I just did that tonite as hubby needed a thank you for work .
OMGoodness!! I wanted the Creative License kit (I am in love with simply scrappin kits), but I wasn't able to get a big enough order in with the holidays and all. My resolutions are to: 1. submit my work for publication, 2. join a design team, and 3. stop spending money on craft stuff and instead donate the money I saved to the Crohn's and Colits Foundation. Thanks!Cheryl KVD
My resolution is to complete a number of unfinished projects with the supplies I have on hand. Cross-stitch, quilting & punchneedle, as well as stamping and scrapbooking! (Oh – that's *after* I buy the crop-o-dile!!lol)
My resolution is to create a stash…I am constantly in need of a card and I always have to make one "on the fly"! Cheers to you!
My resolution is to find ways to either use up some of the paper that I have, or find a way to part with it so I can get some that I will use.
I am using what I have instead of purchasing more "stuff" and being organized so that I know what I already have and don't purchase same/duplicate items. Thanks for sharing all your inspirational ideas throughout the year.Pat
1. stop collecting and start using.2. design my xmas cards in october this year.3. finish my assignments with days to spare!
Cute card as always Jill! Cheers and Happy new Year!My resolutions:1) CATCH UP!!!!2) Use all the sets that I have sitting on my shelf… Of course that would mean that I have to cut and mount them…3) Use some of the ideas that I see on all the blogs I look at instead of just saying Wow that's cute! Lisa P.
I have two stamping goals.1. Get homemade cards to my family and friends. I have, in the past, put it off to the last minute and ran out of time ~ especially for the really important people like my dh and dds. I have posted a calendar in my craft room with all birthdays and card giving occasions on it so I'll know what's coming up :)2. Have all of my Christmas cards done in October. I am going to try your challenge of getting 6 Christmas cards done per month so by the time the crazy season comes they'll be ALL DONE!!!Have a wonderful new year and good luck with your resolutions!!Andrea
My resolution is going to be making more cards on my own and not waiting for a class to come around. even though i love the classes that you offer!! And also to finish up my son's scrapbook pages that I have left unfinished.CharnaCharnascarpati@hotmail.com
my resolution is to dust off many tools, DP and embellishments I have hoarded – I love your resolution list – good luck! and I hope I get the blog candy! 🙂 e elisabethgeers@comcast.net
I would have to go along with your resolutions! Plus try and make more cards instead of waiting for the last minute. And would love to be able to do some scrapbooking, not into that like I should be. Thanks for the chance to win! Ilene B.
Hi Jill,My three resolutions:1. Get over my fear of trying new techniques. Just jump in and do it!2. Learn three new techniques and use them on cards and in scrapbook pages.3. Try to be more creative with my current stash. Can't wait to see more of your projects this year.Diane S.
Congratulations, I am going to stop hoarding items, actually give away the things I make and try to get published.
Hey Jill!! Congrats Sistah!I have to agree in actually using my designer paper! I have so many packs of papers still unopened! I also need to actually start using my stamps as well & stop being such a collector; lol!! Thirdly, I am going to organize my color families in file folders so everything is at my fingertips!!Thanks for this opportunity!
I am working on not hoarding too! I think it's common among us paper Crafters. I also am working on Crafting and Blogging more consistently.. Happy 2008!!!
What a great candy! I too resolve to stop hoarding. Plus I have to use up at least half of my paper before I buy more! Scrapbook at least 1 layout a week and finish my baby's one year album which is close to being done!
Thanks Jill for a chance to win. I think many of us probably have some of the same resolutions. Here are my top 3 stamping ones:1) On the 1st of each month, make all the necessary birthday cards for that month, address envelope and be ready.2) Sort and organize all my small embellishments.3)Use what I have rather than buying something for "someday".Darlene L
My resolution is the same as one of yours. . .use up the designer paper while it's still current!! I have so much of it that I've bought because I thought it was cute, and have not used it. I need to use it up!
I've been enjoying your blog as a lurker. Congrats on so many hits.1.) blog at least weekly on my own new blog2.) more scrapbooking/cardmaking — at least 2 or 3 times per week3.) walk more — shooting for 25 miles every 2 weeks consistently
My resolutions are:no hoarding, stamp at least one thing each day, and keep my stamping room organized. Thanks for sharing you wonderful ideas!Sharon Canter
my resolution (it's an old one) is to exercise more. *sigh* one year, it will not longer be a resolution!! 🙂
My stamping resolution would be:1: Use the stamps I have and then buy more.2: Be more creative and spend more time making cards than thinking what to do.3: Make a lot of cards in advance so I don't have to make them at the last minute. (If my DD would let me do everything I want)Thanks for this blog candy, I will keep my fingers crossed.:)Giovana (giovanachavez@msn.com)
Great blog! Your cards are a great style! Thanks for some great inspiration!!!My goals for 2008 are on blog 🙂
My resolution is to try to indulge regularly in stamp projects beyond the typical carding-giving holidays. I also want to try to work on projects over time instead of always burining out on marathon stamping sessions before a deadline.I love your work and I am so grateful for the inspiration!
Just like almost everyone else, I need to stop hoarding, also. And I need to spend more time actually stamping and a little less time looking online at what others have stamped!! You do such great work! I appreciate the inspiration.
I plan to make all the cards I know I need for the month at the beginning of the month (or the end of the month before) so that I'm not caught last minute. I'm already behind and my mom's birthday is Sun.

My resolution is to use what I have before buying more, and to find cheaper ways to continue making cards. For example, swap images rather than buy every stamp set just to make a few cards.~DEBmapawood@grm.net
My resolutions are to: 1) find more stamping time; 2) find creative ways to use my paper scraps; 3) use more of my handmade cards as gifts and send more of them. Thank you for the wonderful blog candy and beautiful cards you share; they really inspire me!
One of my new resolutions was to get on a design team this year, and it came true already!!! yay, another was to be a better housekeeper, I am trying lol, and another was to do more things with my girls, so I hope to keep to that one, thanks for fantastic candy
My resolutions: 1.) Stop hoarding my supplies such as DP, ribbon, brads. 2.) Participate in sketch challenges. 3.)Set aside time each day to create or be inspired by what others create.Happy New Year!Bunny
I love your ideas on your blog!! I love blogs…because I case everything!!My craft-related resolutions:1) Start scrapping. My son is 5 and daughter is almost 3 and I have not "completed" one page yet. I just keep collecting supplies for it.2) Make cards up ahead of time to have when needed. For example, last year I was scrambling for sympathy cards (unfortunately) as well as birthday and wedding.3) Stop casing and make my own cards. I have only made maybe a handful of cards with my own ideas. I case everything because it takes me forever to make something. I need to just pick a sketch and try it out. 4) Stop buying and start using what I already have. OK, I am going to realistic here..this one will never happen..lol. I love it ALLLLL.Have a great 2008!!
My resolution is to use what I have! I keep buying new stamps and accessories and neglecting to use the ones I already own. So I want to use up some of my paper and embellishments before I buy more. We'll see how that goes!
