Some Birthday Thank You notes

Some thank you notes I sent out this week for my birthday treats.

Why 4 cards in the picture???

I got a new camera at the end of last year.  a Digital SLR.  (nikon D3000 from costco)  I Love it.  BUT–I’m stuck in automatic modes!  How easy, these auto modes make the camera soooooo easy to use.  In an effort to learn how to use it better, me and a few of my girlfriends are taking a camera class to get us out of automatic modes.  the 1st class was to take pictures with a blurry background and work on learning Aperture. (f-stop, depth of field)   Ummm say what? totally new to all of this.   hmmmm I love the blurry background pictures…time to learn FAST!  class is at 7 and I was taking this picture at 3!!!

Well the above was one of my pictures.. not bad for the beginner that I am!!  I guess you could say these (there were about 20 card pictures)  were the warm up.  the front card was to be in focus and the behind ones were to be blurry.  moving on….Take a peek at these:

Jake was an Excellent subject (fstop 4)

this is Carson, what a cutie!  gonna have to scrap this one!  (f-stop 5.3)

Here is Jake again (fstop 4.5)

and my Favorite from the class homework:  Zoe (Fstop 4.5)

Lexy was having NONE of this  in fact she was rather bored with me:  (f-stop 4)

Still a little lost on the rest of the stuff that works in conjunction with f-stop or Aperture.  But WOW- I sure do love these pictures!
